The Situation of Antibiotic Resistance in Klebsiella Pneumoniae and Carbapenemase-Producing Klebsiella Pneumoniae in Vietnam: A Cross-Sectional Study

چکیده
Objective: Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) is one of the most prevalent human pathogens. Carbapenemaseproducing klebsiella (CPKP) has recently developed significant antibiotic resistance, not just to carbapenem antibiotics but also majority other currently available antibiotics. Prior this point, there have been few international studies or publications on situation CPKP in Vietnam. Hence, study was conducted determine resistance K. and strains Can Tho, Material Methods: In total, 345 were isolated. Antibiotic susceptibility assessed via an automated microbiological system. A modified inactivation assay applied identify strains, followed by use MASTDISCS combi Carba plus disc system classify certain carbapenemases. Results: Of 110 represented isolation rate 31.9%. There a correlation (p-value<0.05) between specimen type, hospital unit ratio. All examined exhibited complete penicillin cefazolin. The significantly more resistant PTZ, cefepime, ciprofloxacin imipenem than non-CPKP (p-value<0.05). Amikacin, gentamicin TMP/SMX shown be effective treating patients infected with strains. Conclusion: accounts for 31.9% all infections. highest levels ampicillin, cefazoline, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone ceftazidime. TMP/ SMX least tested.

The continuing emergence of infections due to multidrug resistant bacteria is a serious public health problem. Klebsiella pneumoniae, which commonly acquires resistance encoded on mobile genetic elements, including ones that encode carbapenemases, is a prime example. K. pneumoniae carrying such genetic material, including both blaKPC and genes encoding metallo-β-lactamases, have spread globally...

Sir, Klebsiella pneumoniae is an important pathogen that causes severe and life-threatening infections. Most isolates demonstrate resistance to various antimicrobial agents. Carbapenems have been widely used to treat serious infections with multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae. However, the increasing use of these compounds has led to the emergence of carbapenem-resistant isolates via acquired gen...

To the Editor: Until a few years ago, the most frequent microbiologi-cally documented cause of severe bloodstream infections among patients with hematologic malignancies was gram-positive bacteria (1). However , over the years, gram-negative bacteria have become the main infectious cause of death among patients with hematologic malignancies, and rates of different phenotypes associated with ant...
